| Alain Desjardins' company is awarded the construction. In exchange for the concession for 54 years the company builds at its own costs. |
| 15 July 1826
| Deck is built. A vertical joint in one of the supports opens slightly. |
| 6 September 1826- 7 September 1826
During works on the water system, one pipe breaks and the water causes damage to the substructure, the joint opens up excessively (~60 cm).
Since Desjardins makes the city administration responsible a discussion ensues. The still unfinished bridge is later ordered demolished by the authorities, though for aesthetic reasons. In exchange Desjardins is given three more concessions for bridges in Paris. |
